DISCUSSIONS

As previously mentioned, we have many activities in this course. This picture on the left is one of the outputs that we have made. It is an infographic about one of the problems that netizens face when using the Internet.

This is my over-all reflection on this course's discussions:

Since we are already in the 21st century, educational technology helps education "catch-up" with the society. If education sticks to methods it used ever since it started, then most of the learners of this century may feel disinterested towards education. Move on - move on din pag may time. ;) Also, in education, I value the experience of learning something new. And in technology, I value the experience of simplifying our everyday lives. The Education in the Philippines is currently undergoing a lot of changes, with the implementing of the K-12 curriculum, the Academic Calendar shift, etc. And as a future Guro ng Bayan, I want to use those changes in the best way that I can, and help my learners see the importance and the wonders of education in the same way that I do.

Aside from these, we have also attended a conference entitled ActivatEd 2.0: Weaving Emerging Technologies into Educational Design. It's a very interesting conference which was made possible by the teamwork of us EDTECH 101 students and Sir Pitagan.

I am really glad that I was able to attend ActivatED 2.0. I have learned that, with the dawn of the digital age, it's time for education to "upgrade" in a way that it will meet the needs and demands of a 21st century learner. All the talks were really interesting and very informational. I was able to know about different methods that will help in my lessons someday, without sacrificing the personal interests of my future students. I am really amazed with the emerging technological trends nowadays, and I am more amazed to discover that these technological trends can also be educational in their own way. After all, being a good teacher requires not just the skill to teach well, but also the skill to connect with your students.
